Macmillan Cancer Support

Simon Dubock is actively involved in charity work. In 2018, Simon Dubock was appointed Treasurer of one of the UK’s leading Cancer support charities, Macmillian. After meeting with the Board he was immediately elected as Treasurer for the charity. In addition to his duties as Treasurer was actively involved in campaigns, fundraising and all other aspects as called for by the charity.

Macmillian Cancer Support provides specialist financial support, health care and information to those impacted by cancer. One of the largest charities in the UK, it also helps people affected by cancer with their medical needs, campaigns for better care, and looks at the practical, emotional and social impact cancer can have. The charity’s goal is to improve and reach the lives of everyone in the UK living with cancer.
Douglas Macmillan founded the charity as the Society for the Prevention and Relief of Cancer in 1911 following his father’s death.
Macmillan hosts many annual fundraising activities including:

  • Golf
  • Running Events
Notable Events & Fundraisers
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is the most notable event and has raised more than £75 million since 1991. Other large fundraisers are hosted by Macmillan, including Brave the Shave which raises over £4 million each year, and Go Sober for October which has raised over £3 million.
Move On – Volunteer Charity Organisation
In 2016, he worked with volunteer charity organisation Move On while in Scotland. After an initial training period of six weeks, he was able to provide advice, training, guidance and support to vulnerable young people who have been affected by homelessness. The support was aimed at helping them unlock their potential and make a contribution towards the growth of their communities. Some of the positive outcomes that the organisation hopes to achieve are increasing life skills and helping youths secure or progress towards attaining meaningful work. Move On has operations in Scotland, mainly in Edinburgh and Glasgow, from where it carries out various activities aimed at helping young people. From offering money and debt advice to peer mentoring and schools-based group work and workshops, the organisation strives to live up to its standing as one of the leading mentoring organisations in the country.
Travel & Hobbies
Simon Dubock has travelled to many destinations around the world. He’s been to a few of the Caribbean Islands (Bahamas, Grand Cayman, Necker Island and Cayman Brac Island), Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Hong Kong, the United States and several countries in Europe. These trips have been for more than just official purposes: he’s used the trips as opportunities to enjoy diverse cultures and sample unique cuisines. In his free time, Simon Dubock likes to engage in several personal interests. He loves bird watching, fishing and gardening, activities that enable him to enjoy the outdoors and appreciate nature. He is a fan of Monty Don, the English television presenter who made a name for himself presenting a gardening show on the BBC. Mr. Dubock also has a passion for aircraft topics such as aerobatics, model aircraft, and flights to space.
